For as long as I can remember, I have always loved a good snow storm.  When I was a kid it usually meant a snow day from school which was always fun toboganing etc.  Fast forward a few years, and I still love it, just as much!  Nothing better than being inside and watching all that beautiful white stuff falling.   I had a wonderful opportunity to photograph Linda & Brian’s wedding on this very blustery day, and it was so beautiful and perfect.  I will admit, I have never photographed a wedding in a blizzard before, but man was it fun!!  The wedding itself actually took place indoors, but L&B were good sports and came outside for a few snow shots!

Congratulations again Linda & Brian!  I know they say it’s good luck when it rains on your wedding day, well I bet it’s doubly true for snow!!

my dear boy…

with every fibre of my being, I love this boy… although I must admit that somedays I really think that he is out to see how many grey hairs he can add to my head a day… then there are days when I just want to eat him up. Ok so most days are like that.  For instance, each morning he sneaks out of his bed and jumps on dh and myself… this morning was no different, however, it was 2am, not the usual 6am.  He snuggled in and was all quiet and soon I heard him snoring… odd… and then I saw the time.   I looked over and there were my two guys sawing logs together!  ahhh *happy grin* now how could you not love the face that goes from this kids012.jpg  I think he was up for an oscar with this pout for sure!! a few seconds later I got this kids004.jpg oh ya he’s breaking….. because seconds later I got this kids001.jpg cheeky!!!  how am I supposed to discipline this??? lol  never a dull moment that’s for sure!!  until next time! hugs & blessings! p.

I love a good contest as much as anyone, so I thought it was time I run one here on my blog!

First the prize.  A free family session with ME!  I will give the lovely recipient a session album and probably some loose 5×7’s as well!

The criteria.  I would love to bless a family that might not have been able to afford for me to come otherwise.   I would love to have friends or family members nominate their special friend or family and tell me some amazing things about them and why you would love for them to enjoy this free family session with me.

When: Starting today leap day!  Will ask all nominations be in in the next 2 weeks (until March 14) and will announce the winner sometime over that weekend!

Where:  I’d like to keep this one local, Burlington, Hamilton, Oakville please.

Details:  For those who don’t know how I usually work, I don’t have a studio per se. (I have studio lights, I just dont’ really like to use them).  What I really prefer to do, especially with children is go to their home where they are comfortable and photograph them in their own environment.  I take the first 5-10(or longer) minutes to get the kids used to me before I even pull out my camera.  Nothing like having a complete stranger come into your house and start demanding smiles.  I don’t do that ever!!  We usually play a bit and talk with the parents, the little ones feel safe and then I ask if I can start taking some photos.

Kids love their rooms!  It’s their safe haven.  I love photographing them in their environment too, just helps me to get some real, natural expressions.

Most sessions last for about an hour and a half.  I find that’s about as much time as kids can stand me! :)

That’s about it.  If anyone has any questions, please send me an email to patti@pattimillerphotography.com

Nominations can also be sent to the above email!

If anyone has some thoughts, leave me some comments!!  I’d love to hear from you!

Thursday Thirteen

I have been recently introduced by my charming & delightful husband to the thursday thirteen which is apparently quite the phenomenon!!  Make a blog post about 13 of anything…  lol I can do that!!  and add photos to boot!

Here is my first thursday thirteen!  baby faces!  I have been so blessed to photograph so many beautiful babies lately.  These are all from the past 4 months or so.   I have to admit, secretly I love holding newborns.  I don’t think we’re going to be having any more of our own, so this way I get my fill…  seriously love baby snuggles… I always warn parents in advance, I will kiss you baby!! :)

My first Thursday 13~!

WordPress

Ok I have to admit, I am SO stinking impressed with this fancy new wordpress blog!!  I just imported the last 50 posts from my old blogger site and it was quick & easy!    So cool!  I’m glad I havn’t lost everything!

My only complaint is that my horizontal photos are getting cut off, so I will have to look at getting a wider template or adjust the css.  Anyway just was excited about all of my old posts coming with me!  Like moving house and finding something comfortable and familiar to help the adjustment.

I can hardly believe that February is almost over!!  But I’m thrilled too because that means only 2 more months until I get to go to the bebbinar at the end of April!!  I’m so excited they have decided to take their show on the road and are coming to Toronto, but more importantly I’m excited I get to go!!  My wonderful hubby is going to take 2 days off work to wrangle the kidlets and I get to go and absorb all sorts of bebby-goodness.  This is good, no great news for all of my beautiful wedding couples this season!  I can not wait for the fresh inspiration and everything else they are going to share.  I’m already getting flip flops in my stomach when I think about it!  Yep I’m excited!

I’m also excited about my new website which is underconstruction as we speak er type!  I’m going to be moving all portrait pics over to their own site, and have engagement & weddings all on their own site.  I have been wanting to do this for quite some time, but wasn’t the right time!  I’m hoping for a big reveal in the next couple of weeks, fingers crossed.

One more bit of cool news, I’m going to be carrying very soon, photo handbags and gifts.  They are SO. COOL!

seriously cool.  I can’t wait to get my hands on the one’s I have ordered!  As soon as I check it all out and am happy, as I am sure I will be, you can bet there will be photo’s coming and a new line introduced on the portrait site… so please stay tuned for that!!  And if you’re into hint dropping for gift days(ie mother’s day is coming!) this would make the most excellent gift!!   Details to follow!

TGIF baby!!

Don’t you just love waking up on a Friday morning, if for no other reason than knowing it’s Friday??   I have to admit that I love this feeling, even though I generally work on the weekends… actually maybe that is why I love weekends?  I love my job!!    What does the weekend hold for you?  I’m looking forward to showing some adorable baby photos to new parents… here is one of my favourites from their session!dario1981.jpg

It is beautiful baby season!  I’m so glad too because the weather  really isn’t great for outdoor pics this time of the year, but indoors the babe’s are so so so cute!  Here is a recent beauty… more to come!

New blog… same patti

Hey y’all Thanks for coming and visiting my new blog!!  I’ve heard such good things from Word Press, and was getting somewhat frustrated from blogger, so here I am!  Please update your rss feed or grab one if you don’t have it already!

I am going to try to upload some of my favourite sessions from my old blog,  but am excited by the opportunites here at the new one!

I’m hoping to use the new blog to continue to share sneak peaks from my sessions, possibly contests and new products that are coming in time for Mother’s Day!!  Oh yes I’m planning that far ahead!!

Anyway stay tuned for more! :)

Happy Vday everyone!

I hope everyone was able to feel the love yesterday!! I feel entirely blessed with my three gorgeous valentines. The kids were adorable and my hubby wonderful as always!

I also was invited to attend a momstown Valentine’s day party, where I held a mini portrait party as well! It was so frantic and fun at the same time! I have to say what a gorgeous group of children I had the honour of photographing! Here are a quick sampling of some of the lovely little ones that came out yesterday!
